Known technologies are either difficult, non-standard, un-reliable, non-deterministic and/or require special purpose devices eventually resulting in customer apathy. With credible smartDNA® authentication warranty activation can be linked, wherever applicable. Counterfeit use-case does not require hundred percent authentication. Promotional schemes also encourages authentication. so customer apathy is not relevant in context of smartDNA®.
Identical smartDNA® labels generate unique credential only after application and each smartDNA® credential has to be registered by scanner to authenticate later. Labels auto-acquire per-piece unique credential upon application unlike known technologies wherein uniqueness is provisioned at time of manufacturing and insiders can easily leak. smartDNA® credential is auto-lost on removal and auto-change on reuse of same label.
Randomized numbers set verifiable by SMS/WEB interface is not a anti-counterfeit technology in itself rather, it just enhances traceability. May work better for low-cost / high-volume product wherein counterfeiters have higher risk with minimal profit. Serialization can also work in pharma supply chain wherein bigger packaging serialization has parent-child relationship with unit-level packaging. In number system, It depends on alarm out of repeat authentication of a given genuine code. But false alarm of genuine alert can easily be created by counterfeiter by doing multiple authentication of same genuine code on packaging from different location to keep brand protection team busy for nothing and eventually alarms will loose its importance to trigger ground action. Further if number set file is leaked by vendor staff in connivance all security gets liquidated in one go. Also there is no guarantee that fake unit will always be authenticated later than genuine one. Genuine unit might be authenticated more than once from different locations.
All labels are identical and hence non clonability is irrelevant in context of smartDNA®. Insider has no idea of unique credential generated dynamically during physical application of identically manufactured labels and hence leakage of specification or connivance within vendor workforce is not relevant in context of smartDNA®.
smartDNA® label auto-acquires its credential only on application and there are hundreds of billions unique combinations possible exceeding most advance security labeling technologies known to world and all these at lower cost.
