FIPS 140-2 Compliance

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce that develops and promotes measurement, standards, and technology. Federal Information Processing Standards Publications (FIPS PUBS) are issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). FIPS 140-2 is the current security requirement for cryptographic modules. Picture above, showcases front and back panel of networking appliances, which is used in secured network deployment in data-centers, service providers, banking/finance. FIPS 140-2 compliant certification for physical security is achieved by using traditional tamper-evidence label, those are also serialized. Compliance check is currently done manually for physical security. Manual audit has several drawbacks and operationally heavy too. smartDNA® tagging replacing traditional tamper-evident labels.

Exclusive value proposition delivered by smartDNA® (in comparison with traditional labels):

  • Only label being non clonable, track-able, surface-agnostic offering instant, automated & precise authentication by smartphone
  • Automated verification by security officer for routine compliance check, resulting saving in cost and accuracy of compliance audit and
  • Remote and tangible tracking of compliance audit in large data centers/financial institute minimizing possibility of network security hacking by insiders
